Nick Carter missed his sister’s funeral on Monday due to what he called his family’s ‘complicated dynamic.’

The Carter family gathered for a private funeral over the weekend for Leslie Carter,  who died last week of as-yet-undetermined causes at the age of 25.

According to E! News, the funeral took place on Sunday afternoon in Mayville, New York, not far from Leslie’s father’s house in upstate New York, where she was found dead on January 31. Inside Leslie Carter’s Emotional Funeral

Four days after her death, a funeral service was held for singer Leslie Carter Ashton near her father’s home in Mayville, N.Y.

More than 60 mourners gathered on Saturday afternoon at the Freay Funeral Home for a private service that paid tribute to Ashton, 25.

The aspiring singer and sister of pop stars Nick and Aaron Carter suffered an apparent of prescription medication on Tuesday, according to a police report.

Leslie Carter, Nick and Aaron’s Sister and Former E! Star, Dies at 25

A sad day indeed at the Carter house.

E! News has confirmed that Leslie Carter, the sister of singers Nick and Aaron Carter, has passed away. She was only 25.

“Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter,” the Carter family said in a statement. “We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time.”

Leslie died Tuesday in upstate New York. However, no further details have been given regarding the cause of death.

An aspiring singer, Leslie’s song “Like Wow!” was featured on the 2001 Shrek soundtrack. She later appeared with Nick, Aaron and her other two siblings on the 2006 E! reality show House of Carters.

Two years later, Leslie married and, in April 2011, she and husband Mike welcomed a daughter, Alyssa Jane. [Source]

Aaron Carter Extends Off-Broadway Run in The Fantasticks Into Spring

Pop singer Aaron Carter has extended his run in the Off-Broadway musical The Fantasticks. He will chase romance and adventure for an additional three months through April 22.

Previously seen on Broadway in Seussical and as a 2009 contestant on “Dancing With the Stars,” Carter began performances in The Fantasticks Nov. 7 and was originally scheduled to depart the production Jan. 22. Tickets are now on sale for his extension through April 22.

“Eight times every week I get to perform with an amazingly talented cast in the greatest musical ever written!” Carter said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to extend my run in this classic show.”

“Never in the 51-year-history of The Fantasticks have we opted to cast someone with Aaron Carter’s level of fame, instead quietly enjoying our reputation for giving many future stars their first professional performing gig,” said lyricist-book writer Tom Jones in a previous statement. “But when I saw the level of enthusiasm, professionalism and sheer talent Aaron brought to us, I knew that he would be an incredibly exciting addition to The Fantasticks family.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Fantasticks’ Aaron Carter to Go It Solo at Gramercy Theatre in January

Pop singer Aaron Carter, who is currently starring in the Off-Broadway run of The Fantasticks, will perform a Jan. 19, 2012, solo concert at the Gramercy Theatre.

In addition to his self-titled debut album, he has released “Aaron’s Party,” “Oh, Aaron,” “Another Earthquake” and the collection album “Most Requested Hits.” Carter toured as the opening act for The Backstreet Boys, of which his brother Nick Carter, is a member.

Carter joined the cast of The Fantasticks in the role of Matt Nov. 7. He previously played Jojo/The Littlest Who in the Broadway cast of Seussical.

The Fantasticks is the world’s longest-running musical, having played a record-breaking run of more than 17,000 performances in Greenwich Village. Harvey Schmidt wrote the music, and Tom Jones penned the book and lyrics. [Source]
